Just noticed a new addition to my Facebook newsfeed real estate Facebook Trending.

According to Facebook, the new area shows  “topics and hashtags that are being talked about on Facebook” which currently and mostly likely till the end of  World Cup will be football.  So Facebook  tries to make sure, you do not miss the score, while you stay on Facebook, and to  make Facebook as your primary platform to share your real emotions and excitement with your status updates and other tools with the world.

Facebooks also adds extra fun for fans, in this Facebook app you can see the famous players and their fan distribution throughout world. Furthermore, Facebook Ref page shows a funny video update everytime a goal is scored.



This new tools utilizes the hash tag tool to good use to screen the most trending stories. The trending place is a heaven for advertisers, and good money for Facebook. Attractiveness for business to put in the advertisement in between the trending posts from the trending section is huge and Facebook will gain a lot from it.

For users its more addiction, the fun apps, page and interactivity, makes it easier, faster and fun way to share social and emotional aspect of the matches with vast population. Please share your opinions about it!

MOOCs: Learn without fear

MOOCs will go in history books as  starting of something revolutionary in the 21st century that totally changed the landscape and concept of education. I believe firmly now after going through some courses myself, from the best universities ,professors , and people in practice, and with hardly any  barriers to learning at all.

One of the best things is no fear of failing ; I can try again, and again until I get the concept and absorb it. Which is the best way to learn, also called successful learning from failure.  I learned some of the stuff, that I would have never thought I would have been able to, thorough persistence.

This is how I learned programming thanks to MOOCs, by trying again and again and getting over my fear or I can say training my fear.  I first started with Codeacademy which made me comfortable with coding, with its approach highlighted for  beginners. This site help me built confidence and courage to take on courses such as An Introduction to Interactive Programming in Python on Coursera and Web Development on Udacity.

If a person has a will to learn and become something, almost everything is available online thanks to idea to democratize education. Most courses are built to give practical skills for the market and my personal experience is these few months i spent learning from MOOCs has taught me more than my 4 years bachelors. The single most important reason being that I WANTED TO LEARN, which i will stress in my coming posts related to MOOCs.


Win for Sponsors in Sochi 2014

Excellent performance of Dutch athletes in Sochi made their sponsors happy. Sponsorship is more risky than TV ads, as the results are uncertain. But investment my company such as Beslist.nl has proved successful, as the medal rains on Netherlands. The 35 % of Dutch from 20-59 years old knows that Beslist.nl is one of the sponsors.

The Netherlands have won 24 places and are in top 5 in the medal table, which has a direct effect on athletes’ sponsors’ contract, as media will focus on the winners and the winter sports.

Negotiation between brand representatives and KNSB will be finalised in coming weeks. The team sponsors demand for more visibility in national tournaments, which is mostly dominated by KPN.Bam, Corendon, and Beslist.nl decides to continue and take sponsorship seriously.

Skaters make their position also strong. Names like Wüst, Kramer and Michel Mulder have firmly set themselves in a good position to negotiate. If these players are able to come up with good business plan, their commercial value will be worth  €150.000 tot €300.000 per year.
